ABSTRACT
Under the influence of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the promotion of children’s participation has become a key component of the approach of many child-focused development organisations. At the same time, the child rights principle of non-discrimination has led to an increasing focus on groups of children whose rights are most violated and who are living in very poor and difficult situations. From this work, the participation of children in decisions that affect their lives emerges not only as a right but as a key strategy in enabling them to transform their relationships with adults, exercise their other rights and become active citizens.
