To a large extent the value of intellectual property rights and their ability to achieve their ‘justifications’ stand and fall on the effectiveness with which they can be enforced.1

While this may be true of any property right, intellectual property right owners have a particular need for quick and effective remedies, without which the right could be nugatory and any victory over an infringer pyrrhic.
