ABSTRACT
Section B is about performance and the focus of the question is on your demonstrating how a director might bring the text to life for a twenty-firstcentury audience in relation to the given question. You are in control again here, but this section is more than about looking at rehearsal techniques to encourage your company to explore the text; it is about having a workable concept for an intended production of the chosen text that you can justify in terms of its historical, cultural, social and political context. You need to revisit the information we included earlier on the general historical contexts of the plays and to look further afield with your research in order to develop a clear picture of the play within its historical setting that will then go some way towards informing your interpretation. You cannot hope to know where you are going with this if you do not know where the play has come from.
