ABSTRACT
The International Standards Working Group ISO TC 159 SC5 WG1 has produced around fifteen full and draft International Standards covering human response to hot, moderate and cold environments. Standards concerned with thermal comfort are reviewed. ISO 7730 (PMV/PPD), ISO DIS 10551 (Subjective assessment), ISO 8996 (metabolic rate), ISO 9920 (clothing), ISO 7726 (instruments), ISO WD 13732 (comfortable surface temperatures), ISO WD 14415 (disabled people) and ISO WD 14505 (vehicles) are presented as well as recently proposed work items and links with European Standards. The Standards represent a major land mark in thermal comfort assessment methods. There will be requirements for improvement and these will be established through application.
