ABSTRACT
The last chapter ended with a reference to the poverty caused by unemployment. In fact, about half of people in poverty live in households where at least one adult is in paid work. Poverty is one of four factors which negatively affect the development considered in this chapter. The others are mental health difficulties, violence, and the influence of social prejudice and stigma.
