ABSTRACT
At one of the most popular gay gyms in San Francisco, the crowd is pumping. It is a Monday evening, and hundreds of gay men, mostly in their twenties, thirties, and forties work their bodies to the beat drumming on the sound system or their iPods. During prime gym time (4 to 8 p.m.) if you were to dim the lights, the scene would resemble a busy nightclub-minus the cocktails. This is one of the most popular, largest, and most diverse gyms in San Francisco; it is home base to a mixture of muscle boys, circuit boys, muscle bears, athletes, poz jocks, and older males. The place draws the prettiest boys, the hottest men, and the buffest bears in the city.
