ABSTRACT
This work has offered a radical re-thinking of the ethics of research for social scientific research into sport, as part of an equally radical re-thinking of the epistemological stance of such research. Although its thesis is the necessary integration of these issues, for analytical purposes the presentation has abstracted one issue from the other, attempting to divide the topics in ways revealing for (would-be) researchers.
