ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to describe and illustrate clinical concepts that were developed in the course of qualitative clinical research into risk-taking, dangerous behaviour in childhood, using grounded theory in a psychoanalytic context. The concepts derived from the clinical material were found to be intimately connected to the myth of Oedipus, and this made it possible to understand the origin, structure and meaning of the risk-taking, dangerous behaviour.
