ABSTRACT

In this chapter we turn our attention to the perhaps the most influential cultural practice of our time: the culture of capitalism. Capitalism takes and makes place throughout the globe, leaving traces that affect the commodities we buy, the livings we earn, our methods and motives for travel, and the meanings associated with them. Capitalism affects our identity, our senses of place, and how (b)orders connect and distinguish them. Capitalism, therefore, is not just about making money, it comes to affect who and where we are. As a consequence it is an essential focus for geographers interested in culture.
