ABSTRACT
What happens to a story after it has been gathered is largely a decision for the editor, but whether you work for a newspaper, magazine, broadcaster or website, you need to have some idea of how your story might be used and therefore what final production will be required from you. Almost all reporters these days need to be able to file the story in some variant of text, video or audio, and although broadcasters still use professional crews for major coverage and send several reporters to report for different media, all too often these days a single reporter is expected to be able to file in all formats for whichever media employ them, and often to produce TV and radio packages ready for broadcast.
