ABSTRACT

As noted in the previous chapters, the New Criminal Justice describes justice system processes and interventions that emphasize highly focused local interventions, coalitions formed to reduce crime, and data-driven strategies. When coordinated, these components reflect a strategic problem-solving model that has emerged over the last decade through a series of innovative practices. This problem-solving model also served as a foundation for the U.S. Department of Justice’s gun violence reduction program known as Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN).
