ABSTRACT

This chapter includes discussion of key findings as well as considerations for future research and policy based on the experiences of the 93 Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) task forces. The findings are organized by general observations on the components of successful implementation, the role of research and integration of research, and PSN strategy development. This is followed by a summary of the research findings on the impact of PSN on violent crime. Several theoretical and future research issues are considered and several policy implications are presented.
