ABSTRACT

As people make the transition from childhood to adolescence and from adolescence to adulthood, similarly they make transitions from one level of education to another (i.e., nursery, kindergarten, primary or elementary school, junior or middle school, senior secondary or high school, college or university). These are educational ladders individuals have to scale in the course of their educational career. Most people, if not everybody, at one time or the other have experienced a situation synonymous to transition. For example, when people change location or are transferred in their place of work, they experience transition. Anyone that has had this experience will know and understand well how diffi cult transition can be. Moving from known and relative comforts of one’s home and environment to an unfamiliar terrain can, at least for a short while, create psychological disequilibrium.
