ABSTRACT

There is a range of considerations the therapist needs to take into account in ensuring there is suf®cient protection for their client and also for managing their own needs. Resourcing yourself as a therapist is a vital aspect of protection. Obtaining adequate and regular ongoing supervision is a key part of ensuring there is suf®cient support and protection available for the therapist, but also for the client in terms of quality assurance and the ethical management of the therapist's caseload. Commitment to reading, attending workshops and other aspects of continual professional development form part of the resourcing of a therapist, and ensure that the therapist's skills and knowledge continue to develop.
