ABSTRACT

Teacher and student interactions are an integral part of life in classrooms. Sometimes, these interactions involve a positive dynamic process in which the teacher educates, tutors, and provides for students’ needs. Sometimes, these interactions can be characterized as negative in that there is confrontation where the teacher competes for students’ attention while students try to acquire appropriate space for their own needs and preferences, for instance, exploring friendships, belongingness, and current values in the peer group. Both situations are a part of the daily life in classrooms. Some students are eager to listen and learn (i.e., to take part in the teacher’s project), whereas others do not show the same interest. They are more interested in their own projects.
