ABSTRACT

Even without the other two camps, the existence of Werk C would have sufficed to convey the bitter taste of Skarżysko to future generations. In the words of Rabbi Israel Fersztendig, one of the witnesses in the trial of Adolf Eichmann: “I heard the opening statement of the attorney general…. When speaking of the concentration camps he listed the very worst, such as Auschwitz, Majdanek, Treblinka…. But he omitted one which I believe should be included among the cruelest of them all: Skarżysko Kamienna, Werk C. Any account of the Nazi brutalities must include this camp.” 1
