ABSTRACT

In the introduction we proposed that, in addition to the individual and creative interest of each chapter and project taken in isolation, a number of themes could be seen to emerge in the book, many of them present in varying degrees in each of the pieces. While it is worth reiterating again that we do not propose that this volume covers the full range of performance work using new technologies, and we do not seek to homogenise these projects simply by dint of their using new technology (and thus being represented in this volume,) there is nonetheless much to be gained from pulling together some (elements) of the emerging praxis.
