ABSTRACT

This overview of bioethics in the Philippines covers developments, issues, and controversies that have arisen in the last 30 years. It deals with policies reflected in legislation as well as executive and administrative orders promulgated by the executive branch of government. It touches upon issues and controversies reported by media and written about in the published literature. It pays minimal attention to academic publications, guides and manuals dealing with various aspects of bioethics, since these have been very limited, both in terms of number and of influence upon popular awareness and sentiment.
