ABSTRACT
In this section we have discussed institutions that may support desirable low inflation policies under discretion. Much of the literature on monetary policy has taken a different course. Instead of focusing on institutions, the literature has focused on the idea that reputation may substitute for commitments in supporting desirable policies. In the next section we turn to precisely this issue.
