ABSTRACT
This concluding chapter assesses asylum decision making and the role of experts in light of the growing body of literature which portrays risk and its expert assessment as defining features of contemporary society. It examines both judicial and expert assessments from the perspective of reflexivity, not in its self-centred navel-gazing guise, but in the structural, self-confrontational sense identified by Beck (1994: 6).
