ABSTRACT
‘Where are the blacks?’ That was the pointed question asked by Allen Guttmann after watching a video of a ‘Sport for All’ activity organized in Sorocaba, Brazil. The question came during a presentation I gave at the Congress of 1995 to commemorate the seventy-fifth anniversary of the German Sport University in Cologne. On that occasion Guttmann and myself were among the speakers charged with reporting on the image of sport on different continents. 1
