high school at Maine South. She was im'olved with her class newspaper, the student cou ncil, and the cultural va lues commince . As a junior, Hillary was elected vice president of her class but lost the race to be president the following year. Her academic record was distinguished, and she was named to the National Honor Society. She requested that th e National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) send her information about becoming an astronaut. NASA told her that women were not accepted for astronaut training, a response that astonished her.
