Scholars rarely study the literature written by terrorists. 1 Even the memoir, a form which terrorists are fond ofand one which ought to be very useful and revealing, is ignored. A few memoirs have been examined as part of the analysis of particular groups; no one, to my knowledge, has compared different ones over time, which is the subject of this study.2
