ABSTRACT
There are factors involved in breast cancer screening trials that are fundamental to their interpretation. The basic statistical issues, including the underlying power of the data, cannot be ignored – or false conclusions may be drawn. The authors point out how trials can be compromised by their design and execution (related reference 1) and how data can be used inappropriately to draw conclusions that are not justified (related reference 2).
