ABSTRACT

Methohexitone was first used in 1957. It is presented as a white powder with 6% anhydrous sodium carbonate. The chemical formula is given in Figure 32.5. Of the four possible optically active isomers of the compound, a racemic mixture of two of these stereoisomers is used in clinical anaesthesia. The drug is usually prepared as a 1% solution with a pH of about 11.
