Inhalational agents

The uptake of inhalational agents is more rapid than in adults. The main reasons for this are the increased minute ventilation and reduced FRC. The increased cardiac output also increases the rate of equilibration in the tissues. Apart from neonates, the minimum alveolar concentration is inversely proportional to age (Figure 42.8).
