ABSTRACT
Full cylinders come with a plastic wrapping over the valve apparatus, which must be removed before use. Before attachment to the machine the valve should be cracked open briefly to blow out any particles of dust, etc. in the valve outlet. On the anaesthesia machine, it is good practice to open the cylinder to full pressure slowly to prevent pressure surges in the Bourdon gauges and pipelines.
