ABSTRACT

African writers. There is extensive critical writing about his work in many journals concerned with African Literature (see especially African Literature Today, London: James Currey). However, book-length critical works are still limited. A paucity of critical discourse is a problem for all but a tiny minority of the “giants” of African literature, largely because of the lack of publishing outlets throughout the continent, but also because African literature is a growing but still minority area of international literary concern.
