ABSTRACT
Inflammation describes the reaction associated with injury (e.g. infection, trauma, surgery, thermal, irritant, ischemia) in vascularized tissue. The extent of the inflammatory response may be highly variable between individuals for the same stimulus and is aimed at minimizing tissue damage. Inflammatory conditions may be acute or chronic, localized or systemic.
