ABSTRACT
Subungual haematomas should be drained using a heated sterile paper clip or mini power drill to penetrate the nail. Some advocate nail removal and surgical nail bed repair if the haematoma involves >50% of the nail. The nail should always be replaced or the nail bed splinted.
