ABSTRACT
Fractures of the distal radius and ulna represent one sixth of fractures presenting to the emergency department. Two characteristic fracture patterns present-the young patient with an intra-articular fracture following high-energy trauma, and the elderly osteoporotic patient who falls on the outstretched hand, suffering an extra-articular fracture.
