ABSTRACT
A macro is simply a recording of a series of steps which can then be repeated by clicking on a custom-created button. The original incarnations of Basic eventually became too slow and inefficient for modern operations and are hardly ever used these days. However, it is sometimes convenient to give instructions to Excel to perform operations which would otherwise require considerable manipulation. Such operations can be created as a macro which is written in a form of Basic language within Excel. Some knowledge of the original Basic is of considerable help in constructing and editing an Excel macro, and while the initial operation of recording is relatively straightforward the main advantage of Basic is the ability to set up repetitive routines with loops. Regression analysis is a technique used in many different disciplines for estimating the significance of a number of factors against another factor. Excel carry out regression analysis on data, provided that there is sufficient to be significant.
