ABSTRACT
Blood can be found in the subarachnoid space following intracranial haemorrhage of any cause (most commonly trauma). The term subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) is generally applied to a spontaneous haemorrhage, usually from a ruptured intracranial aneurysm (85%) or arteriovenous malformation (AVM).
