ABSTRACT
This chapter is concerned mainly with those conditions that have an effect on the health of a person during their adult life. These are usually termed the adult-onset conditions, but because of the variability of some conditions, there may be a huge range in the age of onset, and even within the same family the onset of signs and symptoms may occur at vastly different ages.
