ABSTRACT
This chapter is mainly concerned with those genetic conditions that become evident during childhood. In many cases, a genetic condition is first suspected when a child fails to reach their developmental milestones. As the health visitor often has the closest contact with the family, and is responsible for monitoring the child's development, a number of referrals come from that source.
