ABSTRACT

Where a tenancy is protected by the 1954 Act, the tenant may be able to bring it to an end by:

making a request for a new tenancy under s 26 (see 5.1);

giving notice under s 27 (see 5.2);

ceasing to occupy the premises for business purposes (see 5.3);

notice to quit in the case of periodic tenancy (see 5.5);

serving notice pursuant to a contractual break notice (see 5.6); or

surrender (see 4.2).
