At the same time, check with the court whether there is already a bankruptcy petition in existence – if there is, do not continue with your own petition. Instead, contact the existing petitioner. You may be able to join forces. ❍ Fill in the Bankruptcy Petition, form 6.7, which you
will find on the Insolvency Service website. See pp 128-31 for a guide to completing it. Fill it in carefully, and note the following: – the petition itself does not require dating,
signing or witnessing;
– you can only claim the debt as stated in your statutory demand (no ‘Oh, and by the way …’);
– if you have a county court judgment, you need to confirm that the debtor has not paid any money to the court.
