ABSTRACT

In England and Wales when offers to purchase residential property are made, if accepted, they are subject to survey and to contract. This process can be misused by sellers and prospective buyers and there is ongoing discussion by professional surveying bodies, the Law Society and the government (a) to try and evolve a simpler process, (b) to try and evolve a faster process, and (c) by so doing to try and reduce misuse of the subject-to-contract process.
