ABSTRACT
Few would argue against the regulation of the private security industry, which is generally believed to be long overdue. It was mentioned in the introduction that the role of this expanding industry is one of increasing importance, especially in view of the expansion of public protection duties which some of the leading security companies now perform. The private security industry will almost certainly be presented with even greater challenges and responsibilities in the future; therefore, regulation will be more important than ever.
