A. The Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 (as amended) —collective enfranchisement (flats) 5-01 Subject to meeting various qualifying criteria, residential tenants of flats in either purely residential buildings or mixed commercial/residential buildings have the right under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban DevelopmentAct 1993 to buy the freehold of their building from the freeholder. These are freestanding rights and do not depend on the freeholder proposing to dispose of an interest in the building, unlike the rights granted by the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 (as amended).
