ABSTRACT
The doctrine of parliamentary sovereignty, or parliamentary supremacy, is a product of the constitutional settlement at the end of the 17th century. It has two elements: that Parliament may make or unmake any law; and that a parliamentary statute is the highest law known in the UK, and may not be set aside except by Parliament itself.
