ABSTRACT

Legal education is conducted in the faculty of law of the National University of Lesotho. The faculty mounts two parallel programmes: a two tier six-year programme consisting of the Bachelor of Arts in Law degree (BA Law) which takes the first four years and the LLB degree which lasts for the other two years. This programme is tailored to meet the needs of those who intend to practise law in Lesotho. A three-year LLB programme is also offered, and this largely targets graduates from faculties other than law. The faculty of law has an internship programme for first year LLB students, in which they are attached to various legal practitioners both in Maseru and elsewhere. The object of the programme is to expose students to the problems and practice of the law in Lesotho.
