ABSTRACT
Training for the legal professions in Austria is two-phase, consisting of studying law at a university law faculty followed by practical training and experience in the professions. However, time spent in further university research or teaching, or taking a doctorate, may be counted towards part of the period required for practical training. A period of court experience also acts as a quasi-official bridge between the two phases of training.
