ABSTRACT
This chapter will consider the privileges of Parliament. The examples used will mainly relate to the House of Commons, but the privileges of the two Houses are substantially identical.1 It will touch on all the main privileges, concentrating on freedom of speech as by far the most important and contentious privilege claimed. Conflict between Parliament and the courts will also be discussed and criticisms of the current state of affairs in this field will be considered.
