ABSTRACT

It is a common practice, especially in time hull policies, to incorporate a warranty which restricts the type of cargo the ship may carry, or sometimes the way in which cargo shall be carried. There is a standard Institute Warranty to this end, in relation to Indian coal which provides:68

Warranted not to sail with Indian coal as cargo:

(a) between 1 March and 30 June, bdi [both days included];

(b) between 1 July and 30 September, bdi except to ports in Asia, not West of Aden or East of or beyond Singapore.
