ABSTRACT
The law’s censure and regulation of prostitution and prostitution-related activities is seen frequently as the perfect paradigm of a male-dominated, patriarchal society exercising control over women and autonomous female activity. Society is regarded as having a hypocritical fascination with the phenomenon of prostitution, highlighted by its general public and legal condemnation on the one hand and its private consumption of prostitution on the other.
