Battery is the intentional and direct application of unlawful force by one person to another.
Intentional There does not have to be an intention to commit a harm or battery; there merely has to be an intention to commit the requisite interference with the plaintiff’s person. It does have to be an intentional invasion or interference, as opposed to merely negligent.
