ABSTRACT
A defence of offer of amends is contained in ss 2-4 of the Defamation Act 1996. This repeals the previous defence of unintentional defamation contained in s 4 of the Defamation Act 1952.
A person who has published a statement alleged to be defamatory of another may make an offer of amends.
