Types of damage

Nominal damages Nominal damages are awarded where the plaintiff has proved his case but has suffered no loss (Constantine v Imperial Hotels Ltd (1944)). The plaintiff will only be awarded a small amount of money. Nominal damage can only be awarded for those torts which are actionable per se.
