ABSTRACT
The High Court alone has jurisdiction in bankruptcy proceedings if (r 6.9(1)): (a) the debtor has resided or carried on business within the London
insolvency district for the greater part of the last six months or for a longer period than in any other insolvency district; or
(b) he is not resident in England or Wales; or (c) his residence or place of business is unknown to the petitioner; or (d) the petition is presented by a government department based on an
unsatisfied execution or a statutory demand in which it was stated that if a bankruptcy petition was necessary, it would be presented in the High Court.
